Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)

The Responsible Wool Standard is a voluntary certification scheme that ensures full traceability across the wool supply chain, requiring certification of every stage from the farm level through to the final business-to-business sale.

Under RWS, wool producers such as farmers and ranchers are assessed based on defined criteria covering animal welfare practices, responsible land management, and social compliance requirements. The standard is designed to ensure that wool is produced in a way that respects animal well-being and promotes sustainable farming and ethical working conditions throughout the entire supply chain.

In CCS certification processes, based on chain of custody, producers are audited for correct documentation, volume reconciliation, and separate storage management to ensure traceability. The Standard is applicable to all products containing at least 5% RWS
